The Greatest Show On Earth

Franconia Notch is known as the Heart of New Hampshire; a mountain pass between the Kinsman and Franconia Mountain Ranges. The moment you enter this region you are sure to be transported to an entire different world. Nothing is more beautiful than nature’s display of foliage treats in this area. A whole banquet of mountain peaks, waterfalls, pristine lakes, and rivers are served for your eyes to feast upon.

I went to Franconia Notch with friends on a beautiful October morning, a day just after my birthday. The trip was a birthday gift for me. Standing atop the Cannon Mountain the view below was breathtaking. Sunshine was flowing into the trees bringing out a palette of brilliant colours. The wind had blown the leaves off the trees covering the earth in a magnificent colourful blanket. The whole scenery brings in an amazing freshness to the tired mind, blowing away all your heart's burden like the autumn leaves. That is when I remembered the words "Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile" by the poet William Cullen Bryant and when I looked around, I saw everyone had a smile on their faces. Such is the charm of the place.
